travel-with-baby-1
Hitting the road has always been one of my favorite things to do in my adult years. At a moment’s notice I can decide to fly out of town or take a road trip a few states away for a change of scenery. Now that I have an infant, things have changed.

Now don’t get me wrong – life has not ended nor am I saying all traveling has to cease. However, I understand that it takes careful preparation to possibly avoiding travel with a screaming baby & make life smoother. Before the trip, I did thorough research to get ideas from other moms on products that could potentially make a road trip much easier and pleasant, especially for a long trip like ours.

Here are the top 5 products that made the trip so much easier to deal with & will no longer live without.

Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature Travel Bottle & Food Warmer
OMG! L.i.f.e. S.a.v.e.r. This contraption was a perfect buy to warm bottles on the go. My initial research suggested getting a warmer that plugs into the car’s adapter, but many parents said it takes a good 30 minutes to warm up a bottle. When a baby’s hungry, 30 minutes is an eternity. With this, all you do is fill the thermos with hot water, pour in the top container, sit the bottle in it for a few minutes and you have a warm bottle. The water stays hot up to 10 hours!

If your baby takes formula, you can use the hot water to mix the milk and have an instant bottle. It can also warm jars of baby food, as well! This worked perfectly for us on the road.

Skip Hop Pronto Baby Changing Station
I can hardly stand letting the bottom of my shoes touch the floor of a gas station to use the restroom, let alone laying my baby on that plastic thing in the bathroom to change a diaper. With this pad, I can have a clean changing area in my car on the go with access to diapers, wipes, cream, & an extra onesie in case of a blowout.

Medela 9V Vehicle Lighter Adaptor
For the breastfeeding mamas this one is a must-have on a long trip assuming you use the Medela brand of products. Depending on if you feed by breast or bottle, there still may be a time your baby’s not eating at all and leaves you with achy boobs. This adapter allows you to pump on the go right in the car. It plugs right into the lighter outlet. I will say that since it’s getting power from the car, you may have to turn up the speed some to get the same pull you are normally used to. But it works very well!

Tommie Tippee Closer to Nature Bottles
Laila is really good about taking a bottle, but for some reason on this road trip she refused to take them. Which led me to throw away an entire 6oz of milk that she wasted! {Insert gasps of horror from my nursing mamas who understand} My good girlfriend and new mom suggested I switch her to these bottles instead, which are shaped more like a real breast and will make her feel like she’s having the real thing. Worked like a charm!

JuJu Be “Be Right Back” Backpack
When searching for a diaper bag, I was up to my eyeballs looking at the saturated market full of black, neoprene material bags that were super functional, but downright ugly. JuJu Be offers bags for moms on the go who don’t want to skimp on function or style. I have this backpack and I get numerous compliments about my baby bag. For travel, it’s ah-mazing. There are several compartments to hold things including clothes, toys, diapers & bottles.

You’re already traveling with everything except the kitchen sink. Make sure it all fits into a cute bag for the ride.
