I’ve been a lover of potatoes since childhood. Yes, potatoes. The starchy ones, not the sweet ones. Especially fries and chips. As I continue to be better and smarter in my eating habits, I’ve learned you don’t always have to go without; just substitute!
For all of you that are afraid of anything green, kale is definitely is very friendly with regards to taste and doesn’t take a boat load of seasonings to have a delicious flavor. I find that making kale chips is a fantastic alternative that gives me the crisp and just enough saltiness to calm the crave of wanting a big bag of potato chips. What’s great about kale chips is that it’s an easy and healthy recipe to eat and even faster to make.
Here’s what I used:
- Kale, cut & washed
- Olive Oil
- Sea salt
Directions:
-Add prepared kale into a large bowl
-Lightly drizzle kale with olive oil
-Work oil around on kale to spread evenly
-Lightly add salt
-Add kale to baking sheet & bake for 4 minutes at 400 degrees {Be careful: Kale burns easily}
-Remove from oven once crispy to your liking and let cool
-Enjoy!
Note: Make sure you drizzle the oil ever so lightly. Too much drizzle turns your kale into a soggy mess! Also, try to cut the kale into semi-medium pieces. Smaller pieces cook faster and tend to shrivel, leaving you with less leaves to eat.
