Everyone knows Fall is my favorite season for so many reasons, including fashion. While most people are grabbing the clothes that are frumpy and warm (completely understandable), there are still ways you can always stay stylish in the cooler seasons. Here are a few tricks I use that always make me look like I tried!
Don’t buy outfits – buy interchangeable pieces!
When shopping, the key thing you want to do is look for basic items that will virtually pair with anything. Items such as leggings, a khaki trench, tights, and simple booties are just a few basics that are great to start out with. From there, you can always find a sweatshirt, a sweater, a dress to layer over or under. Your closet shouldn’t consist of one-dimensional pieces that can only pair with this shoe or that bag. Start with basics that coordinate and you’ll have outfits for years!
Basics aren’t so bad!
Speaking of great basics, I don’t know how many times I have worn a pair of black leggings, simple black booties and a black sweater and had a full on conversation as to how I take so much time to get ready in a day. Seriously. Toss on some shades and some lipgloss and you’ll really have them talking! Don’t be afraid to go back to basic pieces that get the job done. Your accessory game is what will make it pop and stand out just the way you want it to! Also, you can never go wrong with black and white!
This also goes for shoes. I can wear strappy block heels with this dress or leather ankle booties with this dress. Simple!
If it’s cheap, leave it alone!
I get that everyone wants to look great on a budget – me included! However, if you buy quality, you’ll have clothes that will last forever. Invest in great pieces that will serve several different purposes in different season and different ways.
