Books Currently on my Nightstand

From the time I was a little girl, fashion, lifestyle, writing, and beauty have always been a part of my DNA. One of my favorite past times that I rarely share is my love for reading. Maybe because the time it takes to read the gang of books I have on my shelf or in my Amazon wish list will find me finishing the stack when I send Laila off to college. However, one of my goals for 2017 is to really knuckle back and read a book a month and so far, I’ve been doing a great job. Here’s a look at the books I’ve read and currently have in rotation on my nightstand (and in my Audible queue).

31 Creative Ways to Love & Encourage Him
My hubby and I started the year reading this together, his and hers versions. Our goal is to read a book every quarter and this was the first of 4 books we have decided to read together and it was a great jumpstart to our year. You can check out the guys version here.

Uninvited: Living Loved When You Feel Less Than, Left Out, and Lonely
With a title like this, how can you NOT want to pick this up?! We’ve all been there before. Lonely. Feeling rejected. That annoying feeling that perception rules over reality. Feeling less than. That jealous feeling you get when you see girlfriends celebrating and your mind wanders frantically of all the reasons they didn’t ask you to come along. This book was TREMENDOUS in outlining the truth that “set apart” does not mean “set aside” and to stop feeling left out.

7 Secrets of Successful Families: Understanding What Happy, Functional Families Have in Common
I am a HUGE fan of Jimmy Evans and the Marriage Today ministries. He does such an incredible job outlining subject matters that’s easy to read, digestible and applicable. This book provides Biblical outlines and applications to showcase the way God intended for families to thrive and build a foundation of love, trust, and a strong legacy of a God-based, happy home. This book opened my eyes to my own family, my family’s history, makeup and identify those elements that should & should not be included in a family’s dynamic makeup. A must read!

Present over Perfect: Leaving Behind Frantic for a Simpler, More Soulful Way of Living
I just started this book this week and LET ME TELL YOU – yessss! The title alone made me jump in head first, but I’m finding I’m nodding my head in agreement with each & every chapter. This book outlines the exact reason I’ve taken a step back from everything – to analyze exactly why I’m filling my schedules with tons of things to do all to be miserable in the end. To really step back and feel and enjoy and find the joy in saying “no” when you honestly have nothing to give. Get it girls! Now!
