On this day, we find ourselves on the last day of the year (again). My, how time flies! At the end of the year, instead of reposting other content, I wanted to be vulnerable and come from the heart.
Three hundred and sixty five days ago, I sat in a circle of friends and declared 2011 the year of change. From that very moment, my life jumped head first into the deepest part of the Atlantic Ocean and I haven’t looked back!
Ideas come to fruition
My idea in 2010 turned into the Blushing Black blog January 1, 2011. Since then I have created and established a network where readers can come together to one place and see beautiful images, read inspiring content, and enjoy a digital place where individuality is praised rather than persecuted.
Initially when it was on my heart to start something, I was so skeptical and afraid of the idea. “Would people laugh at me?” “How would they perceive me?” “Can I really do this?” After asking myself all the negative things, I dove in and proved to myself that I can turn it into something positive. I am happy and here to stay! Thanks to all of you for your support as we go into a year of blogging!
The Wedding
My wedding…I won’t talk about the disheartening experience I had planning it. At the end of all the drama, I married God’s gift to me; a man that loves me in spite of it all. I absolutely love and adore my Husband and ever so grateful for him and thankful I have him.
From fiancee to wife. Changing my last name. Entertaining the idea to buy a brand new house to signing closing papers. Making that house into a home. Understanding what a marriage really is all about. Changes.
This is REALity
So many tears. Lost friendships and new ones gained that replace those 7 fold. 6 Weddings and 2 funerals. Family functions. Stresses of life. From Bootcamp to Deployment to Iraq in the U.S. Army, my Brother and our family will be forever changed. Three girlfriends expecting (2 boys and a girl). Date nights. Romantic mornings. Holidays. NYE. 2011.
Only with the Lord’s help, I got through it all and I have faith that He will continue to lead and guide me in the direction that is favorable in His sight. Not because it’s new year, but because I’m His child. #favorisn’tfair
Happy New Year to each and every one of you! Please be safe and please don’t drink and drive. See you in MMXII.
XOXO,
LaTisha
