Recently I had a meeting with 2 execs of Forbes Magazine which turned out to be quite exciting and enlightening.
Although a business meeting on that level can be more formal than normal, I noticed the gentlemen dressed similarly to what Primer Magazine calls “The Getup”. They were dressed up just enough to make the meeting have a less “boardroom” feel, but dressed down like a professional. When I saw this layout, I had to share.
As the year winds down, many of you are working and meeting with your clients and/or colleagues on setting goals for the new year. It’s important to be cognizant of what you’re wearing to ensure you get the deal without looking like you tried too hard or you didn’t try at all.
Before I layout the pieces above if you’re interested in buying, remember this: if you’re more of a jeans kind of guy and less of a slacks and khakis fella, keep a pair of hard-bottom shoes with you for these meetings. It’s equivalent to a woman and stilettos. It easily dresses up the outfit and pulls it together professionally. Just make sure they’re clean and you shine them!
