In a room full of friends on NYE 2010, one of the things I declared was 2011 being a year of change, and hoping that everyone would embrace that change to the fullest. Within the next few months, I became a wife and a homeowner, friends of ours got married, engaged, new jobs and opportunities were offered, and a even a bundle of joy is on the way.
Disclaimer: it’s not me!!! Calm down…
However, when I made that statement, I had no idea what all that would bring to the table. In only the eighth month of the year, change is still presenting itself. After 14 years of school (count K-4 into the equation), 4 years of college, 2 years of post graduate work in Engineering Management, a Business Degree, and a professional career in Corporate America, I finally figured out my passion in life.
I’ve always been a free-spirit, going wherever the wind blows. As I age, having a more definitive understanding of who I am is realizing the things that make me happy. When I finally figured out my passion, what had been staring me in the face since I was a teenager, it was one of those “OMG, duh!” moments. On top of the fabulous things that I have accomplished this year, this epiphany has been one of the greatest moments and feelings of my life, and adds to what I consider, a great achievement.
My passion encompasses all the things that make me happy: fashion, style, personality, beautiful things, lush surroundings, glamour & the freedom to be creative. Even the results of this dream career quiz I took (like all of them), described it well.
Since then, I constantly thank God for the revelation and now a lot of what I do and gravitate towards makes more sense than ever. Even my work experience provides the guidance and foundation I need to head on a path to success, but only with God’s help and guidance. Now that I’m at the starting line, the real work is taking the necessary steps in the right direction to reach my goals. One day I will share this identified passion when the time is right.
I’m no advisor on how to figure out what your passion may be, but for those that are itching to know what your passion may be, identify those things that make you happy. Not just the surface, but the elements that equal to (your name here)’s happiness. What hobbies do you gravitate towards? Would you do this for free? What are the things that spark a flame inside of you to act on your interest right away?
I guarantee that no matter your age, location, economic status, race, or gender, any and everyone has a passion for something. For the dreamers, continue to dream, and dream big!

Change can be extremely difficult but your passion always refocuses you. Remain steadfast and I wish you all the best!!
