Today the world lost a legend. Jamesetta Hawkins, known to the world as Etta James lost the battle to leukemia in Los Angeles. She was 73.
My best friend and I were on the phone this early afternoon talking about a dream she had where Etta James’ song “Sunday Kind of Love” kept playing over and over and she couldn’t understand why. That conversation took me back for about 30 seconds when I was planning my wedding last year and I would play “At Last” and “Sunday Kind of Love” over and over again. The last thing I thought was “She is so blessed to still be here with us today.” A few hours later, I read online she was gone.
I really love and connect with her music and her free spirit. We both were born on January 25.
Today I pay tribute and homage to the late singer. Her strength, story, and her songs will never fall on forgotten thoughts. She will surely be missed.
