I’m fortunate to have grown up with a mother that taught me the importance of giving back to your community and others. Not only did she instill this in me, I was blessed enough to witness her carry out her actions in her own community. Now that I’m older, I can honestly say it’s a notion I pride myself on. So when co-founder, Kat Ewing of Borrowed by Design contacted me about their dress drive, I knew I wanted to help.
Borrowed by Design a clothing startup company based in Atlanta whose mission is to build a community for women to rent formal and semi-formal wear to each other. This Saturday, the company is sponsoring an event to benefit Operation PROM, an organization that raises funds and collects donated dresses for high school seniors who have financial hardship with getting a dress for homecoming and prom. Without missing a beat, I thought of a dress I have to donate. My goal is to give one young lady the chance to feel as beautiful and amazing as I had the chance to during my senior homecoming and prom.
The event will be held Saturday, August 17, 2013 from 2pm-4pm at the Atlanta Tech Village in Buckhead. For those based in Atlanta, you are more than welcome to RSVP here. Look out for photos! I will be sharing my experience at this exciting event.
