In my last post about hair, I told you that Mommy dearest sent me a package of goodies to try on this tame, yet untrained coif of mine. This past week, my hair has been all types of dry and with weather of fire and brimstone, hair days have gone bust. If you put heat in the vicinity of my head, it could start a brush fire. Laugh at my pain, but I kid you not.
Last Friday’s style ended up being a cute ballerina-top bun (slicked with Shea Butter) after a braid out gone totally awry. So, after taking a 3 hour nap on Friday, I was up for hours debating if I should bother with my hair that evening or slide on the boxing gloves and deal with it in the morning. At 11pm, I was compelled to wash and deep condish my hair. Since it was going into the weekend, I decided to try some of the products my Mom sent to test them out. Hey, if anything went wrong, I had all weekend to bounce back.
The first on the list was the Kera Care Natural Textures Cleansing Cream Curl Wash.
The product claims:
-Sulfate Free
-Gently cleanses hair and scalp while neem leaf (Ayurvedic) extract helps eliminate scalp bacteria
-Eliminates product build up
-Eases combing -Soothes and clarifies dry or itchy scalp conditions
The verdict: “WOW!” That’s what my hair screamed. I’ve only been excited about one other shampoo since being natural, and that was three years ago. Shampoo, no matter now “natural” the ingredients, just makes my hair somewhat dry. This did not!
I always listen to what my hair is telling me, how it reacts, and how it feels. My hair felt soft from the moment I began washing. The driest part of my head felt extrememly moisturized and curled beautifully. After I rinsed, my hair felt like butter. Yes my friends. This is just from the shampoo. It’s a winner!
Since I was in dire need to deep condition, I skipped the other stuff and went straight to the Jessicurl Weekly Deep Conditioner. I’ve heard great things about it, but what works for some doesn’t always work for others. I try not to fall into the hype, but wanted to give it a go myself.
The product tip is:
This conditioner is really intended to be used once a week, for 20-30 minutes, in order to really replenish your hair after a week of styling. If your hair is very fine and gets weighed down easily, you may want to either limit the amount of time it’s left in your hair, OR, wash your hair after using it. I use it every Sunday for an hour, with my Hair Therapy Wrap and my Monday hair is always super duper soft!
My Mom sent some sample packets, so I used two of these packets to cover my hair. I sectioned my hair off in 4 sections, applied then twisted. At first, I was a little skeptical because the consistency wasn’t too rich (like I’m used to). It disappeared on the hair once applied. Nevertheless, I put on my shower cap and sat under the dryer for an hour.
The results:
Hair like butter. Super soft, shiny, with curls defined. This proved to be a definite winner.
…and voila!
I am extremely happy with the results of these products on my hair. I have my favorite products, but I’m still working to find that perfect combination of items to achieve the look I’m going for. These two products will now be in heavy rotation for me. I highly recommend you try these products if you’re looking for something to give your tresses the much-needed taming and moisture it deserves.

Your results are awesome!
