I’m back.  Forgive me for the lack of posts this week! I have been super busy going to castings and fashion events here in Atlanta.  I had the chance to walk in Atlanta International Fashion Week’s finale show last night and I have another fashion show to walk in tonight!

In the mean time, I’m still in the process of updating my beauty products this summer (See the makeup products review here).  This time I’m focusing on my hair.  With my hair being natural, 3 different textures, with a dab of heat damage, it can really be a daunting process to do.  However, one of my goals to achieve after my wedding was to leave the heat alone and really buckle down and find out what my hair likes and dislikes.

This process, it can sincerely turn you into a PJ (Product Junkie), so I have to be careful!  I’ve been doing a heck of a lot of research on what has worked for others and gauging what products to buy and which ones to pass on.  So in the past few weeks, I’ve been testing a few that I think are definite keepers and have brought me success, and less stress to my life.  So here we go…

Kinky Curly Knot Today8 oz
If there is one product on the market you need, it’s this one!! Kinky Curly’s Knot Today is (literally) magic in a bottle.  No matter how knotty, curly, coily, or kinky your hair is, it will make detangling a breeze.  I have [almost] grown out of my tender headed phase, but this here makes it non-existent.  I swear by this stuff!
To use: put about a dime size in the palm of your hand, rub hands together, apply throughout damp hair. Then detangle, starting from the ends and working your way up (of course).  Watch how easy your brush or comb glides through.
Dabur Vatika Enriched Coconut Hair Oil
Made with Henna, Amla, Lemon, and other ayurvedic ingredients, Vatika oil is fantastic for sealing hair and to use with twist outs, braid outs, or simply moisturizing.  What I love about this product is once it touches the palm of your hand, it melts.  It’s not too light and not too oily; it’s just enough to give your hair that moisture that you need for the day.
Paul Mitchell The Conditioner 33.8oz
This leave in condition is another life saver.  After I wash my hair and towel dry it with a tee-shirt, the next thing I reach for is a good leave in.  If you need one – this is it!  The conditioner is something I tried last summer when I was visiting (hot _____) Texas.  I haven’t let this one go since!  My hair consistently and always feels super soft and moisturized afterwards.  Always.
Remember to follow up with your favorite moisturizer after your leave in to seal in moisture.  Mine is coconut oil or Vatika oil.
Murray's Superior Hair Dressing Pomade
Now before the naturals of the world unite and banish me from my natural hair homeland, let me explain about this product!!  I do not use this in my hair!  This stuff is actually a secret I use to keep my hair from looking like a sweaty mess when I go work out.  Feel better? Okay…
When I am heading to work out, I take a little (and I do mean a little) of this pomade on my middle finger and just ever so gently swipe a little up to the beginning of my edges.  Just a dab.  I do that all around the perimeter of my edges, put my hair up with a satin, ouchless scrunchie, and it’s off to my work out.  If you like to spin like me, imagine a hot room of 30 people burning 700 calories per session twice a week.  Now imagine what your hair will look like once it’s over! Yuck.
The pomade (basically is a wax) that allows the sweat to bead off to prevent the sweat from going into your hair.  It doesn’t cure diseases or feed the hungry, but it does allow me to have a hard work out and not ruin the tresses.
Denman Styling Brush (Model D4)
Lastly is the trusty Denman brush.  This particular brush I use is the D4.  It’s great for detangling and smoothing hair, allowing you to achieve a less frizzier ‘do.  It’s fantastic to use after applying the Knot today and leave in condish.  It’s also great and helps your curls “find themselves” after you rake it through.
That’s it! I hope you all enjoy!  I have some new sample products my Mom mailed to try (thanks Mom!) so I’ll let you all know how those turn out! 🙂
Gotta run to prepare for this next show.  You can also check out my other favorite beauty products in the here in the Blushing Black Store!
