As a little girl, I’ve always been fascinated with makeup. It’s always fun to take products and create a beautiful face that could make models in a magazine do a double take. However when it comes to the opinion of that face to the significant other, their answers aren’t so enthusiastic.
Truth be told, a majority of men would rather a woman be as natural as possible. Now before the Statistician Coalition asks for raw data to prove my argument, I’ll politely tell you it comes from personal experience and asking men the question: would you rather a woman wear makeup or be natural?
For those of us that love to play, you’re rolling your eyes (like me). Makeup shouldn’t hide what you look like, but rather enhance your features. I admit: I would rather see someone wear makeup that looked natural and flawless without 77 layers of Pancake #33 slathered on their mugs. Truth.
Summer is almost here and I’ve already started switching up my beauty routines to accomodate the elements. One being my makeup routine. During spring, you can typically catch me, sans makeup. I have allergies so anything that touches my face other than my glasses is torture. Now that the pollen has eased up, I wanted to begin wearing a nice face of makeup that wasn’t too heavy, greasy, and gave me that fresh face I was looking for.
One of my favorite celebrities that does the fresh face very well is Tika Sumpter.
She’s so pretty!

Here’s my attempt:
I’ve been doing the “boyfriend makeup” for a few weeks now and every single attempt has turned out flawless! BF makeup can be done daily, takes 5 minutes of your time, and for the guys have a mental conniption about makeup, it looks as natural as your skin. Here’s what I used:
Moisturizer, HD Makeup Forever Liquid Foundation, NYX Eye & Brow Pencil, Mac Skinfinish, Mac Blush, Lancome Hypnose Mascara, Revlon Lip Gloss, Mac Powder Brush
I took the moisturizer of choice and foundation and created my own tinted moisturizer. I apply to the back of my hand, like so, to warm up the product, mix them together, and apply with my finger. Now, most may prefer a brush or sponge, but in this case I treat it like a moisturizer and apply with my middle and ring fingers – with clean hands, of course.
To finish, I apply the skin finish powder to set the liquid on my face. You can use any powder for this, but this product is staple I keep in my bag. Then, add a little blush, fill in brows, add a little mascara, and a nude to clear gloss to finish it off. For those that love the bronzers, add a little to your forehead, nose, and chin for a nice summer glow.
Viola! You’re ready to face the day with a fresh face.
