Earlier we talked about 5 transition pieces you can take from Summer to Fall without having to dash to the store for new pieces. Today we’ll talk about those pieces you can buy and wear year after year without fail. Here are the 5 key Fall fashion pieces that women should already have in their closets for Fall:
Scarves: Depending where you live, scarves will be handy on the first day of Fall or in the middle of the season. No matter where you are, you can be sure you will need something handy to give you a little extra warmth.
Booties: This is a given. While you can get away with open-toe shoes, and to clarify, that would be peep-toe, booties are a guarantee staple you should have on hand. Pair these with a cute skater skirt, leggings, and a jean jacket, jeans & a sweater, or leggings and an oversized cardigan.
Leggings: This accessory is a phenomenal way to be fashionable for the season and stay warm. So many times girls with compromise warmth just to be fashionable, and that does not have to be the case. Leggings can be a great switch-up from jeans or a great addition to add under dresses and skirts.
Let me just add that there are certain leggings that should be worn with certain things. Leggings that are meant to be ‘tights’ are made of a sheer/opaque material. This is not made to be worn with just a jacket. We’ll be able to see everything…if you get my drift. Leggings that are solid are meant to be worn alone as pants and paired with jackets, sweaters, etc. If you’re not sure, put your hand inside the piece to test. If you can see your hand, these are tights. If you can only see the imprint of your hand, then these are actual solid leggings.
Being warm is always in season, when appropriate. Not hypothermia.
Slacks: Slacks are not just for work or the board rooms. Slacks can be dressed up with heels and a blazer or down, with a jean jacket and flats. If you’re really into fashion, check out pleated slacks which fit exactly at the hip, are a little loose fitting in the legs, and tapered at the ankle.
Jackets & Cardigans: This is also a given. Jackets and cardigans should be made of heavier materials than of those from the spring and summer seasons. Try a leather jacket or a gray cardigan made of wool. When searching for either of these pieces for Fall, make sure you feel the material to ensure they feel heavy enough to keep your body warm.
