Even though fall is approaching, don’t let yourself get stuck in only buying dark, drab colors for the season.  Fall is very forgiving if you decide to spice up the wardrobe from the usual “basic black” to electric hues.

Another way to punch up that wardrobe is by color blocking.  My cousin sent me this article when I was the middle of formulating this post about the trend…and I’m so glad she did. This fashion technique is the art of pairing solid colors and pieces of either the same, opposite, or different color family altogether.  With color blocking here are a few pointers:

-Stick with solids; don’t mix patterns
-If you’re just starting out, colors in he same color family
(i.e. Barn Red, Burnt Orange, and Pink)
-Worried about looking “loud”?  Pair your outfit with nude heels or flats to “tone it down”
-If you’re not afraid to take a risk, try mixing 3 and 4 colors together
-Be sincerely confident
