The crop top is definitely on my top 5 list of the best fashion pieces to own. While many may scoff at me, let me just add that the crop top can be worn by different shapes and sizes other than slim and thin. The crop gets a bad rap just because those that are super buff can flaunt it and those that, well aren’t, still find a reason to wear it, but not in a way that’s flattering. I’m here to share a few tips on how you can wear this trend, whether you’re skinny, slim, boy shaped, pear, curvy or round.
1. Obviously by the title you know that pairing a crop with a pencil skirt is the way to go. For this trend to work, it’s best to wear a high-waisted skirt .
2. In terms of the higher waist, make sure the crop covers your belly button OR make sure it sits just slightly under the crop top. This is where you can gauge what’s best for your shape. Some may opt for more skin to show versus others that only want the illusion. Don’t make the skirt so high that you can tuck the skirt into the crop top!
3. Symmetry is key when trying this trend. If your top is fitted, you can get some lee way and wear a pencil skirt with a slight flair. If your top is somewhat boxy or has major shoulder action, keep the skirt straight! Remember: Fit & Flare or Flare & fit.
I’m absolutely dying to try this look, but I can’t quite find the right crop top:( Will keep looking.
@ahhhsoneo Keep looking. I have a unique shape, so I’m very cautious on which ones I buy, as well. Asos & H&M have been my go-to places. I def say keep looking and don’t give up. 🙂
