A few weeks ago, Alicia Keys released a 10th Anniversary double cd of her first album ‘Songs in A Minor’ with unreleased tracks and bonus features. As a HUGE Alicia Keys fan, I had to get it (just like the other 5 cds of hers I have) and let me just say I am not surprised how much I love this. Her music still speaks to me today. I’ve always understood her as an artist, a person, and she has one of the greatest birthdays – Janaury 25 (Aquarius stand up!).
Buying this cd actually takes me back to when I was 17. I saw Alicia’s video “Fallin'” on BET one day and thought the tune was catchy, but I really didn’t pay attention to it, honestly. Then one day I was driving to work and 102 JAMZ in Orlando played her 2nd single “A Woman’s Worth” and I turned it up. I was blown by the music and the lyrics. It spoke and resonated with me.

Even at the tender age of 17, I knew that I was worth it!!! However, it was the bridge that sold me as a lifetime member and fan of the musician from Hell’s Kitchen in New York.

I still listen to the original cd I bought 10 years ago. Her music, vocal range and tones, and even style has progressed gracefully and beautifully throughout these years, and I know she’s far from finished. Alicia never fails to bring the emotion and originality to her craft. She writes, produces, acts, wrote a book, sings, plays instruments…the girl’s got plenty of talent!!! The Deluxe Edition is a must-add to your music collection. It’s beautifully shelved on mine!
