For the past few years I’ve had my eye on lip tars from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. Now that they finally decided to sell their products in stores, I definitely wanted to get one-on-one with them and eventually ended up buying some.

OCC prides itself on developing 100% vegan and cruelty-free products, which I truly fancy, but I wasn’t sure if they lived up to the hype. The colors were super pigmented in the tube, but did that hold true once I applied them?

Here’s the scoop!

I purchased lip tars in the colors “Stalker” – Matte, “Vintage” – Matte, & “Black Metal Dhalia – Metal” to test it out.

Each package came with lip tar and a special brush for precise application. The OCC lip tar brush truly made applying the colors smoothly.

Before application, I used this lip primer (which I love) to help prep and moisturize my lips.

Word to the wise: You need a primer on your lips. If you don’t, especially with a matte color, it will end up dry.

The directions advises that you only use a tiny, tiny bit. I can definitely say a little went a long way.

The results:

{Lip Tar in “Stalker”}

I loved this color! Application was smooth, easy and the color was off the charts! Described as a “true blue” color, this color was definitely a hit for that sexy, fiery pout.

{Lip Tar in “Vintage}

This color can be described as “vampy”. This color has a tinge of red, but also a mix of brown that tones it down some. I really liked this color for those days I want to execute a vintage look.

{Lip Tar in “Black Metal Dhalia}

This color was surely my favorite out of the bunch. Black Metal Dhalia is a metallic which is a part of OCC’s new fall collection. I was extremely impressed with the shine, color and overall appearance. This will definitely get a fair amount of wear from me! Yes ma’am! Very sultry!

Overall I’m super impressed with these products. I think that if you’re not afraid of color and looking for something to provide that other than a lipstick, OCC is the best choice. To buy, see my list below from Sephora or you can find them at a Sephora near you.
